Getting Here
The journey to Hotel San Juan will be only the first part of your magical adventure in Ometepe. Leaving from the Port of San Jorge in Rivas, you will cross the majestic Lake Cocibolca (Nicaragua) by ferry, experiencing breathtaking views of Concepción and Maderas and enjoying the gentle breeze as it sweeps over the water.
The majority of visitors to Ometepe take one of the ferries leaving from Puerto San Jorge in Rivas, which run from 6:00am to 6:30pm. All of the ferries arrive at Moyogalpa or San José del Sur. You can pay the passenger fee for the ferry of your choice upon arriving at the port in San Jorge. We recommend our guests take the Rey del Cocibolca. It is the largest ferry, and it stops directly at San José del Sur, the closest port to Hotel San Juan. There are four ferry companies: Nicarao, Ometepe, Rey del Cocibolca, and Che Guevara. Arriving by Car
If you plan to drive your own vehicle to San Jorge, you may use online navigational tools such as Google Maps or Waze to guide your way from your initial location. Simply input “Puerto San Jorge” as your destination, and the system will lead you directly to the ferry port.
All ferries allow passengers to bring cars and small trucks on board. We recommend that guests with their own cars bring them on board the ferry to the island. However, these vehicle reservations must be made in advance. You may either call your chosen ferry company to reserve a vehicle space, or you may call us to reserve it for you. For stays during the high season or Latin American holidays, we suggest calling at least one month in advance to reserve your space. Outside of high-volume periods, a week in advance should be sufficient. Prices for a vehicle space range from U$15 to U$20, depending on the season.
The San Jorge port also offers a parking lot for those who do not wish to bring their vehicle to the island. The current fee is 100 cordobas per night per vehicle.
Arriving by Bus
If leaving from the capital city of Managua, you may take the San Jorge bus leaving from the bus stop at the Mercado Roberto Huembes. The bus will drop you off directly at the San Jorge port, and you can pay your fee to board whichever ferry departs next.
Getting to the Hotel
FROM MOYOGALPA:
Head east on C. Sta. Ana for 350 m and turn right. After 140 m., turn left at the first crossroad. Turn right onto Highway NIC-64 and follow it for 21 km. Just after Road NN-226 on the right, you will see the entry sign for Hotel San Juan Ometepe. Turn right onto the dirt road near the sign and follow signs leading to the hotel for 2 kilometers.
FROM SAN JOSE DEL SUR:
Head northeast for 450 m. Turn right onto Highway NIC-64 and follow it for 10 km. Just after Road NN-226 on the right, you will see the entry sign for Hotel San Juan Ometepe. Turn right onto the dirt road near the sign and follow signs leading to the hotel for 2 kilometers.
There are a variety of options for those arriving without a personal vehicle. You may organize transportation to the hotel with one of the local taxis that wait near the arrival ports. You may also call the hotel a week in advance to arrange private transportation with our staff.

You may also take one of the public buses, but please keep in mind that the bus will only stop near the road entrance, which is 2.3 km from the hotel grounds.
